How to Check if a Website is Down (Ping Tool Guide)

Is It Down for Everyone or Just Me?

When a website seems unavailable, the first question is: is it down globally, or is it just your connection? Our URL Ping Checker checks from our server — if it responds from our end but not yours, the problem is local. If it fails from our server too, the site is genuinely down.

How to Use the Ping Checker

Enter the full URL including https:// (e.g. https://example.com). Click Check URL. The tool shows HTTP status code, response time in milliseconds, and whether the site is UP or DOWN. Enable "Check every 10 seconds" to monitor it automatically.

Understanding HTTP Status Codes

  • 200 OK — Site is up and functioning normally.
  • 301/302 — Redirect (site is up but redirecting to another URL).
  • 403 Forbidden — Server is up but blocking access.
  • 404 Not Found — That specific page doesn't exist, but the server is running.
  • 500 Internal Server Error — Site is up but has a server-side error.
  • 503 Service Unavailable — Server is overloaded or down for maintenance.

What to Do If Your Site Is Down

Check your hosting provider's status page. Check if your domain has expired. Check your server error logs via cPanel or SSH. Contact your hosting support if none of the above helps.
